See the migrating whale sharks, Mexico
The gentle giant whale sharks in La Paz are filter feeders and safe to swim with. This exhilarating, once-in-a-lifetime experience is highly regulated to protect the animals, so you must book with a licensed local tour operator. It’s one of the best things to do in La Paz, so we recommend you don’t miss out.
Hike at Isla San Francisco
Hike the ridge that takes you to the top of the hills surrounding this picture-perfect crescent bay. Don’t forget your camera to capture the dramatic contrasts of sky, sea, sand and rock.
Bahia Agua Verde, Mexico
This picturesque fishing village set in a secluded bay should be on any Mexico yacht charter itinerary. Although on mainland Mexico, it’s not easily accessible by land, guaranteeing an unforgettable crowd-free experience.

Explore the vibrant marine life in Belize’s world-famous UNESCO-protected barrier reef, notably the second largest in the world.
Visit Cocoa Plum Caye

When is the best time for sailing the Americas?
The best time of year for sailing La Paz in Mexico is mid-February to late June or mid-October to late December.
The best time to visit Belize is from late November to mid-April, during the dry season. Warm temperatures, sunny skies and access to top attractions can be experienced at this time of year.
What are the sailing conditions in the Americas?
The sailing conditions in Mexico include southerly winds averaging between 10 to 15 knots. Most of the Pacific basin tropical storms during the hurricane season typically pass south of La Paz and the southern tip of the Baja Peninsula.
The sailing conditions in Belize offer balmy easterly trade winds year round. As these average between 15 and 22 knots, you’ll have excellent cruising conditions. Calm waters are the norm while sailing inside the barrier reef.
Careful navigation and diligent watch is required due to the intricate system of coral reefs.

What is the currency?
The currency in Mexico is the Mexican peso, but US dollars are accepted in the main tourist areas.
The currency in Belize is the Belize Dollar (BZD).
What is the Wi-Fi connection like in the Americas?
The Wi-Fi in Mexico is good, and most cities and towns have Wi-Fi hotspots at bars and restaurants. Our La Paz marina has free Wi-Fi. There’s no phone coverage in about 70% of our sailing area.
The Wi-Fi in Belize is limited, but is available at our marina, and also at Hatchet Caye and Coco Plum Caye.
What is the best way to get to the Americas?
The most convenient way to reach our Mexico base in La Paz is to fly into La Paz International Airport. AeroMexico has the most daily flights and there are several other domestic airlines via Los Angeles or Mexico City.
To reach our Belize base, fly to Placencia Airport (PLJ) by taking a connecting flight via Belize City.

We highly recommend you arrange travel insurance in case you need to cancel for an unexpected reason to cover non-refundable deposits.
Our Sail Share cabin cancellation fees are:
- More than 90 days before original embarkation date: 25% of the charter fee
- 89 – 60 days before original embarkation date: 50% of the charter fee
- 59 – 30 days before original embarkation date: 75% of the charter fee
- Fewer than 29 days before original embarkation date: 100% of the charter fee
How flexible is the itinerary for a Sail Share charter?
Our yacht itineraries are designed by our destination experts and are set to showcase the best of the destination’s highlights. They are set and not flexible, even if you book all the cabins.
What happens if the weather changes while sailing on a Sail Share charter?
The skipper may decide to change the itinerary if there is bad weather.
Can I choose which cabin I want when I book a Sail Share?
Choose a double cabin with shared bath, or private bath for an additional fee.
Are there child or age restrictions for Sail Share?
Minimum Age: 16 years old
