These travel tips and mantras are helpful for planning, enjoying and remembering your dream vacation.
- Pay for experiences instead of things. If you’re on our blog, you’re probably already in this mindset. We specialize in amazing experiences on world-class yachts. Period. Some big purchases need to be material goods – that’s just how life works. However, if you’re able to create lifelong memories for yourself instead, we recommend it. Instead of that expensive souvenir, go snorkeling! You get the idea.
- Bring only what you need. If you haven’t overpacked at one point or another: congratulations! You’re a travel wizard! It’s common to think we’ll need this extra top, that pair of shoes, both types of sunscreen. You won’t need it. You think you will, but you won’t. This trap is especially easy to fall into if you’re a parent traveling with your kids – what if they need something I’m unable to give them? Better pack it just in case. Pack the essentials, a few “just-in-case” items, and yourself. You’ll be happier for it.
- Take only memories, leave only footsteps. Memories include pictures, videos, stories, inside jokes, new jewelry, seashells, and much, much more. Feel no obligation to forgo souvenirs, plenty of snapshots, and anything else that adds to your enjoyment – just remember that’s not what it’s all about. Be in the moment as much as possible.
- It’s the journey that really counts, not the destination. As purveyors of yacht charters, we firmly believe that the journey to your destination is just as important – if not more important. In fact, most of our itineraries are set up as “journeys,” with several stops and no true “peak.” This is intended to give you the ultimate combination of relaxation and sightseeing.
- Over-planning leads to stress. We enjoy the journey partly to experience as much as possible, but there’s definitely such a thing as experiencing too much. Many of us have experienced that quintessential family vacation where dad (or mom!) tried to hit all the best spots, planning out every second, and inevitably blowing their top when it didn’t work out perfectly. Don’t try to cram your vacation full of memories – let them happen naturally.
