A new way of boating
The Beneteau brand’s boat building legacy dates back to 1884 when Benjamin Beneteau founded the BENETEAU boatyard in France, later producing the region’s first engine-powered fishing boat in 1909.
Today, Beneteau yachts remain one of the largest and most respected brands in the industry with continued innovations in terms of both boats of processes. It’s no surprise that they continue to challenge boundaries with a new reimagined hybrid electric “monohull”.
A modern alternative to charter monohull & catamaran sailing
Their latest venture follows extensive research dedicated to listening to the voices of countless charter guests, and collecting invaluable data about their real-world experiences. The result is the exciting new electric Island Cruising Concept designed specifically for idyllic charter holidays on the water.
Step aboard this new concept boat and experience cruising at a peaceful pace, similar to a sailboat, but without the hassle of sail handling. Enjoy freedom and autonomy with hybrid electric technology, along with spacious living areas similar to a catamaran and comfortable accommodations for up to 8 guests.
Sustainability meets cruising pleasure
With an eye toward eco-conscious cruising combined with superior onboard comfort, Beneteau has engineered the Island Cruising Concept to operate for extended periods under full electric, emissions-free power – the ultimate choice for eco-conscious boating enthusiasts.
Around 30 to 50% of the boat’s energy requirement is achieved through the power of the sun, with large roof-mounted solar panels. Charterers can enjoy easy cruising from one island to the next with a full electric range of more than 2.5 hours at 7kts.
The boat’s software system ensures stress-free energy management. And, of course, a propulsion back-up is provided with the generator providing a range of nearly 250NM at 7kts.
Take your charter vacation to the next level with a boat that’s respectful to the environment, and also more enjoyable with the complete absence of noise – just peaceful, silent operation – similar to sailing but with less effort! You can even make your vacation budget go further with exceptional savings through fuel efficiency.
It’s also worth noting that this boat recently won an award as the Eco-Focused Launch of the Year (Over 10m LOA category), at the IBI METS Trade/Boatbuilder Awards 2024.
Indoor & outdoor living spaces blend seamlessly
The main living space aboard the Island Cruising Concept is covered for protection from the elements, while providing an open-air experience that’s wide open on all sides for fresh breezes, expansive views and an unparalleled feeling of oneness with nature and the sea.
This covered living space is light and bright, with 360 views and houses an outdoor kitchen, dining table, and bench lounging seat, as well as a comfortable helm station. Platforms at the back and foldout terraces on either side further expand the space and open feel, while providing easy access to the water for swimming and water sports.
Doorways on either side of the covered living area allow easy access to the lounging areas on the bow. Here, guests can sunbathe or take in the stars at night from the comfortable padded bench seating and sunbed lounge areas that rival the space on the bow of a catamaran.
When ready to retire for the evening, tuck below to discover four comfortable guest cabins with ensuite baths, plus a single forepeak crew cabin.
Superior design for ultimate chartering comfort
Comfort and efficiency aboard the Island Cruising Concept is further enhanced through a new hull shape called mono-maran, featuring a monohull shape in the bow area that widens to mimic a catamaran shape toward the back. The result is a shape that helps boost fuel efficiency under power. Most importantly, stability and comfort are greatly improved whether underway or at anchor.
Charter guests can experience less “roll” while enjoying onboard activities like reading, meal preparation and lounging at day stops, and also while sleeping when anchored or moored for the night.
Transition between a quiet mooring and navigation is seamless, as guests can continue to use the kitchen and dining areas while underway without being disturbed by unpleasant engine noise, vibration or fumes.
The hull, without a keel, also allows for access to more cruising areas and close-in beaches with a shallow draft of just 0.85 meters (2.8 feet).
