Lagoon Catamarans from 1984 to Present

Featured new boats

Lagoon Catamarans is breaking new grounds with each new model that is released from the factory in France. Each boat design incorporated owner feedback and builds on the successes of previous catamaran models. With a long history of boat building and a team of noted designers such as Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot Prévost (VPLP), this should come as no surprise.

Lagoon was founded in 1984 and since then has produced almost 4000 boats. It is now a part of the part of CNB, a division of the Beneteau Group, the world leader in pleasure sailing craft construction. During the early years of their cruising catamaran development, Lagoon designed offshore cruising models which were specific to private ownership (55, 47, 57 and 67), and separate models which were designed for chartering (37 and 42 models). Now all new Lagoon models can be configured for optimal private ownership or chartering layouts that are all space-efficient and comfortable. Lagoon is now a world leader in the construction of cruising sailing catamarans and their design innovations with rig placement and hull shapes have changed the standards.

The stunning and innovative Lagoon Seventy 7 sailing catamaran was a hugely successful launch in late 2016 and now the company will be rolling out two new models in late 2017 which are more size appropriate to the majority of buyers. The Lagoon 40 and Lagoon 50 will both be launching in Fall 2017. Those two new models will fit in nicely with the popular Lagoon 42, which marked 100 hulls sold as of March 2017, and was awarded the Cruising World and Sail Magazine Boat of the Year awards in 2017. Over the years the highest selling models have been the Lagoon 380, 400, 440, 450, 500 and 620 catamarans.

The successes of Lagoon are not limited to sailboats. In 2014, Lagoon launched two new motor yachts: the 630 MY and the 40 MY. Now in 2017, the Lagoon Seventy8 motor yacht flagship is launching as the largest motor yacht ever built by Lagoon, after more than two years of development. The manufacturer commented about the new design, “Behind the elegant and refined lines of this great yacht, conceals unparalleled comfort and autonomy that will seduce every blue water cruising enthusiasts. The SEVENTY 8 is indeed a fine example of the French expertise from Lagoon.” Read more about the launch of the new Lagoon Seventy 8 motor yacht.
