Video Highlights From Antigua Sailing Week

Partners

As official bareboat sponsor of the 51st edition of Antigua Sailing Week, we had fun following the exciting race results in the last week. The event opened with the Peters & May Round Antigua Race on Saturday, April 28 and was followed by five days of competitive racing. The week has become one of the Caribbean’s most prestigious regattas and involved 1,000 sailors from 37 countries.

Peters & May Round Antigua Race

The race record was smashed by 42 minutes by Volvo 70 Warrior, sailed by Stephen Murray who used the 20-25 knot winds to complete the 53-mile course in 3 hrs 55 mins and 38 secs. Warrior is operated by the non-profit US Merchant Marine Academy Foundation for its Warrior Sailing Program, which helps wounded veterans through sailing. Video by Acqua Films Antigua.

English Harbour Rum Race

The race opened with great sailing conditions and plenty of wind, up to 20 knots, which gave a thrilling day full of challenges. It was a great occasion for Antiguan entries with five teams winning their respective CSA classes. At the prize giving event, crews were invited to compete in the English Harbour Rum Bartender competition where some creative cocktails were designed and tasted. Video by @268raftup.

Fever Tree Race Day

The legendary sailing conditions continued with strong trade winds and squalls giving some exciting rodeo dynamics to the regatta. Video by Acqua Films Antigua.

Wadadli Beer Antigua Lay Day and Reggae in the Park

Hundreds of sailors, spectators and Antiguan locals graced the beautiful beach at Pigeon Point for Wadadli Beer Antigua Lay Day. To top it off, they enjoyed a fantastic Reggae in the Park performance from Tarrus Riley in the evening. Video by Acqua Films Antigua.
